Kiss me deadly (1955)

»I’d rather have the blues than what I’ve got.«

A formally repetitive, aggressively unnerving, almost experimental intro leads to a mix of classic noir aesthetics and a more modern, almost sixties look and feel.

Production crudeness, unattractive characters and mannered acting creates a bizarre, slightly surreal atmosphere. Combined with sadistic violence, nuclear paranoia and erotic tensions no one even tries to hide, this becomes a very interesting and unconventional movie.

In my book.
