Le mépris (1963)

Odd multilingual meta-movie with a diverse cast of international stars acting out a bunch of parallellities in stories within stories. Infidelity and jealousy, power and independence, art and commerce, suspicions and manipulations, bickering and violence – plus the search for that elusive turning point from which no return is possible. The anguish of the main characters can be felt through the layers of tongue-in-cheek irony and literary intellectualism.

»It is what it is, take it or leave it«. In my book.
