L’avventura (1960)

Cool looks and gorgeous sceneries grate against uneasy, languishing relations between eager simpleton men and nervous doubtful women. Forbidden, confusing attractions make angst-ridden, isolated characters wear and tear on each other without resolving much of anything. Behaviour – and plot –  are frequently illogic and inexplicable, creating a fleeting, undecided, aimless atmosphere.

Groundbreaking and intellectually challenging, but not in my book.
