The bigamist (1953)

Some titles reveal too much! But after the initial mystery is briskly resolved, this softhearted flashback story of lovesickness, circumstance and sacrifice gets deeply emotional, strangely ambivalent and highly involving. A refreshingly non judgmental look at basically decent grown-ups making unnecessary but understandable mistakes  – and having to face the consequences.

In my book.
