backtrack; Five easy pieces (1970)

Mostly concerned with class, escape and masculinity. Both the movie and its main characters ramble along without much of a goal – unable to cope with or even comprehend what’s going on around them.

Ultimately a bit too thin and meandering, though. Only maybe in my book.

  1. This is one of my favorites. You are unlikely to see a movie this subtle made today.
