Days of heaven (1978)

Actors are too beautiful and poverty too idyllic in this slow, calm and thoughtful historical drama of class and love. Breathtaking Andrew Wyethish vistas create an existential amazement and thankfulness enhanced by the basic honesty of the characters. To little avail, alas, since impossible emotional turmoil leads to an apocalyptical climax. Albeit somewhat softened by mildly hopeful end notes.

Maybe in my book.
