backtrack; La dolce vita (1960)

Style and substance! A revealing study of the symptoms of a spoiled civilization – lack of communication, shallowness, exploitation. And on an individual level, the ennui and self-disgust felt by slowly facing the difference between what life is becoming and what it could have been. Simultaneously criticizing and wallowing in the decadent world it depicts, this is rambling, too long, at times incomprehensible – but still alarmingly relevant after more than 50 years.

Incohesive and brilliant! In my book.
