Seconds (1966)

»You are accepted«

Unnerving, sweaty, in-your-face intro leads to growing mystery. This bleak fable of age, life’s meaninglessness, and the tempting prospect of starting anew resonates deeply despite implausibilities and uneven acting. Classic Hollywood moviemaking clashes with something edgier as director Frankenheimer analyzes unpleasant questions of identity and what one really needs/wants/should.

In my book of dreams – or nightmares.
