backtrack; Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)

Lies, love, leverage. A clever and complex intellectual construction, using alcohol as catalyst to create stunning chamber drama, digging ever deeper into the increasingly strained relations of two couples.

The acting is a tour-de-force, showing off bad behaviour as entertainment with very unpleasant aftertastes. In my book of theatre on film.
