backtrack; Barry Lyndon (1975)

barry-lyndon The lavish and exquisite production can only partially hide that this true epic ultimately turns out to be far too long, unfocused, and – worst of all! – not engaging enough when it comes to the main character.

Magnificent, though only maybe in my book of rise and fall.
