backtrack; Sex, lies, and videotape (1989)

Director Steven Soderbergh’s smash hit is a low-budget indie masterpiece focusing stubbornly on the emotions, relations, and secrets of a rather dysfunctional Baton Rouge quartet. Extremely well conceived and executed – especially for a 26-year-old debutante!

Not flawless, but both intelligent and touching. In my book of influential exposure.
