backtrack; The thin red line (1998)

thin

After his pared-down, exquisite debut »Badlands« and the more sumptuous – though equally beautiful – »Days of heaven«, director Terence Malick disappeared for 20 years before returning with this ensemble drama, another slow-growing success with both critics and audiences.

A long and elliptical visual feast, meditating somewhat confusingly upon the concept of war. Maybe in my book of unfocused philosophy.
