According to some sales department there has been »more than one and a half million copies sold worldwide in thirty languages«. I know of these: english, french, german, italian, spanish, portuguese, dutch, swedish, danish, finnish, norwegian, estonian, czech, croatian, serbian, slovenian, hungarian, romanian, polish, turkish, and chinese. That’s twentyone, leaving at least nine to speculate about! What languages, and – most important – any local additions?
And yes, I know I’ve been obsessing a little over the different editions lately 😉

Hi – how come you spam your website on icheckmovies so much? It seems like every time you watch a film, you comment with a link here. That’s not why ICM is for. They’re also very negative, just about every one says “not in the book”. What exactly does end up in “the book”?! The links don’t even give proper reviews, just a couple of sentences, so there’s no point in providing them at all. Sorry to be blunt, but there’s absolutely nothing I (or anyone else) can get out of that.
I don’t want to sound too negative – comments on ICM are good, but I think everyone would prefer if you just gave your thoughts without always relating them to this blog. Note how you have practically no “upvotes”? In fact, I see rather a lot of downvotes….I hope you’ll reconsider this and just use the comment section for sharing coherent views, like everyone else. »Not in the book« isn’t opinion or criticism, just stating the fact that a particular movie is not included in the »1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die« book. Could’ve explained that better, I suppose.
It’s true that I comment on every movie I watch. I use ICM to keep track of what I’ve seen (since my blog is only about movies from the book), and when visiting the site it’s so easy to quickly jot down a »verdict«. I don’t have the time to write longer and also like keeping things short, but of course I can stop linking to my blog if that’s a problem.
And I guess it’s only fair if I get downvoted when I am not as ambitious as other people that write more substantial reviews.

Firstly, thanks for such a cordial comment – that was really good of you since I was rather blunt. When you say you’re “just stating the fact that a particular movie is not included in the »1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die« book” – to me this wasn’t obvious; I assumed you were talking about which films *you* would include in the book, or something, and it seemed that you were constantly dismissing titles. I’ve noticed many of your comments on various films over the years (I’ve been using ICM since 2010), and the links to your blog do bother me – it feels like spam. There’s one other user I’ve noticed who does this (and all his links are in Russian, so especially unhelpful!) but everyone else just writes their thoughts. I’m a big fan of the comments feature, and would always encourage people to use it (even just a sentence or two, lots of mine are that short), so I’m not saying “comment less”. I’m just asking – please remove the focus on the blog and the 1001 book? It’s not what people read the comments for. Cheers, happy film watching.
