backtrack; The Matrix (1999)


First watched this several years after its premiere, and was a little disappointed after the massive hyperbole. I am actually more impressed today, and recognize its tremendous influence, ingenuity, and innovative use of the cinematographic toolbox.

Ridiculously extravagant action merged with muddled but intriguing pop philosophy. In my bullet-time book.
