Manon des sources (1986)

History casts very long shadows in this almost too beautiful epic. A much-lauded sequel that stands surprisingly well on its own, but I must say it also made me curious about the first part.

Touching, dramatic, funny, sometimes stupid. Maybe in my book of family, friends, and foes.
