Les bronzés (1978)

»This wasn’t in the brochure!«

Lightweight synthetic eurodisco and swollen typography perfectly accompany this liberal-minded and sex-driven vacation comedy, immensely popular in France. Comes complete with a diverse gallery of travellers, hunky and/or wacky male hosts, plus anonymous female ones.

The tempo only partially hides the rhapsodic and rather bland excuse for a story where desperate emptiness seems more prevalent than joy. Cruelly tragic in several ways, a tendency not unusual in comedies.

Mostly unfunny for a foreigner. Not in my book of pitiful characters.
