A tanú (1969)

»Everything is politics, my son. I shall pray for you.«

The odd Pink Pantherish theme and strangely crude title typography turns out to be quite apt for this surprisingly frank East Bloc production depicting the absurdities and shortcomings of socialism. Calmly told in a deadpan stoical manner, it gets both funny and creepy along the way.

Part drab comedy, part revealing history lesson. In my book of surreal, lethargic paranoia.
