The remains of the day (1993)

Restraint without release. Solemn and sad about work ethics, appeasement politics, and repressed emotions. Too literary, too long, and too much of a construction with all cogs in full view.

Exquisite in many aspects, but still not in my book of servitude and stiff upper lips.
