So this is Paris (1926)

– If all week-ends were like you – there would be no parties!

Lovingly mocking silent screen tropes and mannerisms while at the same time utilizing them to their fullest – a neat trick indeed by legendary comedy of manners director Ernst Lubitsch!

– I can’t talk anymore – let me lie in peace.

Building heavily on coincidences and misunderstandings while trying to hide some truths, this is a bedroom farce in many ways – with every aspect fast, witty and rather silly!

– One meets the very best people in jail now-adays!

Pre-code innuendo, jolly adultery, exuberant dancing. Could well be in my book of sheiks, charleston, and partner swapping.

– Here’s to LOVE and LIBERTY!
