Le clitoris (2016)

Funny, intelligent, and pedagogic visualization of a sensitive topic: »the only organ in the human body dedicated exclusively for pleasure«. Well conceived and executed in a charmingly uncomplicated manner. Three minutes of tender joy. Probably in my book of lovable didactic … Continue reading

1309

Sininen viikko (1954) A short and brisk triangle drama that explores the tired trope of escaping the mundane and finding brief happiness in a bubble destined to burst. Silly, heartfelt, and ominous. Probably not in my book of summertime blues.

Prehistoric poultry – The Dinornis or Great Roaring Whiffenpoof (1917)

Story and animation are equally clumsy, even if the Dinornis itself looks funny in a stupid kind of way. Willis O’Brien’s pre-Kong shorts are quite uneven. Not in my book of early birds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZs_XvEk54Y

King Klunk (1933)

Pooch the Pup tries to cash in on the King Kong Kraze! The fluidity of movement, visual inventiveness, and all around jolly mood are both inspiring and refreshing, as so often in vintage animated cartoons. The first Kong parody and … Continue reading

Το κορίτσι της Μάνης [The girl from Mani] (1986)

»There is no such thing as freedom« Another greek movie about the clash of old and new, this time a melodramatic love story trying for grandeur but ending up in embarrassment. The script is oldfashioned and passable, but the execution … Continue reading
